data-block-id=\"c7d11f5\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Located in the territory of Soriano, Corviano is between two tributary ditches of the Vezza. An area rich, both from a historical and natural point of view, so much so that it was declared a \u201cNatural Monument\u201d in 2007.<br>The territory of Corviano hosts the remains of an ancient inhabited settlement, composed of underground dwellings dug into the rock. The area was identified during an excavation campaign carried out in 1976, when King Gustav of Sweden, an archaeology enthusiast, came to visit and study these places.<br>In the north-eastern part of the plateau there are numerous houses and caves, some of which have undergone subsequent transformations: initially composed of a single room, they were later expanded into several rooms, with steps dug at the entrance and large skylights.<br>Particularly characteristic are the so-called \u201cpestarole\u201d which consist of scattered boulders, on which two mostly quadrilateral basins are carved at different levels (the highest being larger and the lowest being smaller). A hole, made near the bottom of the upper basin, leads to the one below; another hole, opened near the bottom of the lower basin, leads to the outside. As for the purpose of such artefacts, it has been hypothesized that they were made and used in the Middle Ages to store and press grapes and to collect the must.<br>Visiting the site of Corviano allows you to retrace the history of this place, starting from the Etruscan and Roman remains, passing through the ruins of a castle and a medieval parish church, with a small and suggestive cemetery attached, up to a characteristic mill.<br>In addition to the beautiful historical itinerary, visitors can also admire the naturalistic riches of the area. Different types of trees, flowers and plants embellish the area. Ancient ravines, tuff slabs and characteristic natural waterfalls make this area a true oasis of peace. Finally, there are numerous panoramic points where you can take beautiful souvenir photos.
